Video Description

In this video, we're starting in the French part of Switzerland in St-Triphon. It's not a well known area and it's train station has been long closed, but it has a rail connection to one of Switzerland's two oil refineries. We'll be travelling along Switzerland's largest lake (although part of it belongs to France), lake Geneva to Lausanne and then taking the Jura south foot line to Olten before continuing to the port of Birsfelden in Basel/ Muttenz. Said port is the hub for oil in Switzerland. Much of it enters via ship on the Rhein and is stored at the port and distributed around Switzerland. Our train today is an empty train returning to the port after delivering fuel to the refinery.
