Bird art by Cass: https://www.casswomack.com I love you, Mango 💕 In our modern day, it can be easy to take for granted our current state of medical knowledge. Germ theory, vaccines, and antibiotics all make jokes of what were once life threatening and mysterious diseases. But back in the day, the mysterious workings of things like tuberculosis ravaged the minds and bodies of many rural communities. When confronted with such confusing and dire circumstances, superstitions take rise, leading to many cases throughout history of people blaming "vampires" for their woes.
