My supermarket work experience, the theory of bullsh*t jobs & what we can do about them. My unusual job at a Singapore supermarket during unusual times was like a petri dish verification experiment of David Graeber's theory of Bullsh*t Jobs and how it causes social and psychological harm. Grateful as I am to have had a fallback during that period, 2 years later the memory of that work experience still troubles me. This is a story I’ve been wanting to tell but for the longest time I couldn’t figure out how.
