Welcome to my channel, I Do Cars. Its an answer to the awkward question "So what do you do?". On my channel you'll find videos of the dumb and overzealous car projects I take on personally. You'll also find videos of getting cars running that are either wrecked, or have been sitting for a long time. There will be some how-to repair videos as well because showing people how to fix their vehicle themselves is what I love to do. Of course, you'll find engine teardown videos. Lots, and lots of engine teardown videos. One a week, at least. I own and run an auto salvage operation and part of our model is tearing down bad or core engines and selling the parts. Taking these engines apart is just another day in the office, so I'm happy to bring you along! Video Description
Today we have a first! This is the 3.0L Twin Turbo V6, Known as the CTMA from a 2018 Porsche Macan S. This engine is a core return, meaning its the bad engine pulled out of a vehicle after a good used replacement was installed. I didn't get mileage or a story with this, but this teardown uncovers everything! Multiple failure modes, some unrelated to each other, worked together to cost the owner of this vehicle thousands of dollars in repairs. But could it have been avoided? Would a little attention paid to abnormal noises and smells have saved the day or would this happen no matter what the owner or driver did? For parts visit www.Importapart.com or email us at [email protected] For other I Do Cars content check out my wife's channel at https://www.youtube.com/@TheCarWifeLife For cool car related shirts, click here! https://www.blipshift.com/?utm_source=i-do-cars&utm_medium=affiliate Every week I post a new teardown video of a blown up or suspected bad engine. My name is Eric and I own and run Importapart, a full service auto recycling business. Part of our model includes buying and dismantling core, bad, and broken engines to salvage the good parts and recycle the rest. We do not rebuild engines, merely supply parts to those who do. As always I hope you enjoyed this teardown. I love all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism. Catch you on the next one! -Eric 00:00 Intro 03:36 Pulling coils and plugs, One looks TERRIBLE 04:57 Removing the loosely bolted on intake manifold and inspecting the ports and valves, Not great! 06:39 Unbolting the LH Turbocharger 08:`12 Unbolting the RH Turbocharger and inspecting both 10:11 Zipping the bolts out of the LH Valve cover and removing it.
