Also, the lighter the feeder, the more slack there is. When fishing in a current, the current itself draws the line for you, eliminating the need to reel in. The stronger the current, the less noticeable the slack in the line is. It's still there, it's simply taken up by the current, not you. So where does this slack come from? When a line or cord is immersed in water, there's always friction, which slows the feeder's fall. Plus, lines can float (most often), which further prevents the feeder from sinking. As a result, when the feeder touches the bottom, the line/cord isn't taut like a straight string (as you can see in the illustration in the video). This idea is completely incorrect! Due to the above effects, its position will be approximately as shown in the illustration. The feeder pulls the line, but the line, through friction and (if present) buoyancy, slows the feeder's descent, causing the feeder to fall CLOSER than in a perfect spherical vacuum, where the line forms a straight line from the tip to the feeder. From the feeder to the surface, the line follows a peculiar arc. Then, if the casting distance is sufficient, part of the line lies on the water—we can clearly see it after the cast and watch it gradually sink under the water; anyone paying attention could have seen this with their own eyes. Then, part of the line travels through the air from the water to the tip. Let's exclude wind from consideration; it can also add an arc that will need to be taken up, but that's not the point now. After the feeder hits the bottom, the line tension it had when it fell is gone, and in the absence of current, the arc begins to straighten out, causing the tip to bounce back and the line to sag. As we all know, the shortest distance between the tip and the feeder is a straight line. But we've created a very curved line, which is obviously longer. Now, to bring the line into a position more or less resembling a straight line between the tip and the feeder, we need to take up this excess slack with the reel. It's clear that the further we cast and the deeper the water at the fishing spot, the more erratic our line curve after casting, and the more slack we'll need to take up. Practical recommendations regarding this point. To reduce this effect, you can use sinking lines. You can treat the line with degreasers, even dishwashing liquid, to make it sink better. It's important to be aware of this effect and mitigate its consequences. Don't reel in several turns at once, otherwise you could move the feeder. However, you won't be able to take up all the slack. Gradually remove the slack until the tip stops straightening. Don't hesitate to take up the slack, as if a bite occurs at this point, you might miss it due to poor transmission of force to the tip. The fish's effort will be directed toward straightening and pulling out the slack, rather than bending the tip.
