You may not know this, but this is a special day. Because today you will walk side by side with Beethoven. This musical selection is specially curated to accompany you through every step of your day. Start your morning with the gentle lull of the Sonata Pathetique, the Archduke Trio, and the Largo from the Piano Concerto No.3 to then be immediately be reinvigorated by the third movement (Rondo) of the same concerto. This afternoon comes filled to the brim with some of Beethoven’s liveliest, most vigorous and joyful music, from the 8th Symphony and the “awakening of cheerful feelings” of the 6th, which are sure to boost your energy right through to the end of the work day. Then came dusk. Time slows, down to a trickle. Sit back. It’s time to enjoy a much needed and well-earned rest accompanied by the loving song of the Romance in F, the Adagio from the Cello Sonata No. 5, and finally the searching pathos of Fur Elise. And now, with the coming of night, it is time for sleep. You crawl into bed and you switch off your light and stare stare into the darkness. You wait, but rest still eludes you. You toss and turn, tortured on the storm of “the Tempest” and the Storm (4th movement) from the 6th Symphony (Pastoral). And then, quite suddenly, release comes, a light piercing the clouds. The wind and thunder dies and you are embraced by sleep in the fifth and final movement of the Pastoral. Goodnight. Sweet dreams. We hope you had a wondrous day with us and with Beethoven.
