Alaska Off Grid Island, what's it like in the winter?

The winter is by far the roughest time to live on an island in Alaska. The ocean is very unforgiving and the temps are in the 20s and 30s here. They can dip down into the single digits but we don't get as cold as the interior does. I wanted to show some of the issues you have to deal with if you decided to live off grid on an island.
