Aoraki Mount Cook National Park is located in the heart of New Zealand's South Island. The word “Aoraki” at the start of the name can be interpreted as "the cloud piercer" in Maori language. The park is named after the highest peak in the country, which stands at an impressive 3,724 meters, or 12,218 feet tall.
