Apartment Life in Vietnam - it's a different mindset and I love it!

In this Freedom Lifestyle, 'moving' to a new country is easier than you may think. Here in Vietnam, as well as all the surrounding Asian countries, apartments come furnished. You can 'move in' simply by signing a contract or lease whether it is for a week, a few months, or a year, and paying a deposit. The apartments are furnished with all the basics, including linens and towels, and are serviced 1-2x a week. In addition to the monthly rate, you pay for your electricity usage, and sometimes a nominal fee for shared water bill. There is no 'change of address', or setting up utilities. You can 'move' to a new or different country merely by packing your suitcase and catching a flight. The mindset around your 'home' is different here than what I am used to. Much of 'life' occurs outside the home, and there is not a lot of focus on the inside - it's more about functionality and not decor. The houses and apartments are all very similar to each other in style and furnishings. I find the simplicity refreshing, and saves me time and energy. I have noticed that I have changed from what I thought I needed and wanted in a home, to absorb more of the mindset of how life is lived here. I don't spend time (or effort or money) shopping for things for my apartment or fixing it up, outside of adding some throw pillows and a few plants. So much less 'fussing', lol. I'm enjoying the change, especially the one I am seeing in myself. I'm much more focused on people and experiences than on material things, and that feels good. I find myself surprisingly unparticular about things that used to be important to me. Another example of, 'Travel is personal growth on steroids' :) I do really appreciate the opportunity and circumstances to be able to experience other lifestyles and not only see if they are a fit for me, but realize I can happily change to be a fit for them.
