This film tells the story of the Second World War, as it was experienced by the inhabitants of Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, then a Soviet satellite country. Hitler covets the region’s oil wealth, because he needs Baku oil to carry out his plans for world domination. The goal of his entire 1942-1943 campaign is to seize this oil. But the Soviets and the Allies are dead set on stopping him. They are willing to resort to radical means if necessary, even if this means wiping the city off the map.
