BBC under fire for ‘lacklustre’ apology over Trump documentary edits

IPA Research Fellow Mia Schlicht comments on the BBC’s admission that it responded too slowly to the controversy surrounding its edited documentary footage of US President Donald Trump. “Absolutely, this apology took too long … when he says he wants to apologise to all the people who wish for the BBC to thrive, I’m not really sure how many are left,” Ms Schlicht told Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. “I don’t think Trump is going to be satisfied with this lacklustre apology because it wasn’t really a full apology, it was about halfway there. “Trump isn’t being petty; he isn’t looking for an apology to stroke his ego. What he is doing is he is pointing out the systemic bias that has existed in taxpayer-funded institutions like the BBC.”
