At TIFF 2005, four young actors attended the press conference for BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN: Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, Michelle Williams, and Anne Hathaway. Twenty years ago, the idea of a love story between two men was novel enough to provoke a few clumsy questions. But most of their answers are sensitive and thoughtful, and can help explain why these actors all went on to have such impressive careers. Watch for a phone call from absent director Ang Lee, an early-2000s take on the concept of the nepo baby, and a cameo from the film’s composer Gustavo Santaolalla.
