About

My wife and I love the outdoors and try to travel whenever we can. I'm also a "gadget guy", a network engineer, and many years ago, a corporate technology buyer...so...I kind of naturally got into doing reviews on tech products, and that seems to be the kind of content that my viewers find the most interesting (vs my travel content). I review all kinds of tech, but I do tend to focus primarily on portable power and solar products - mostly because I find these a LOT of fun to work with. :) I don't take money from brands to do reviews (like many channels do), but I do often get the product sent to me for free. I only agree to do reviews on products that I think are worthy of serious consideration and I don't accept conditions on what I can or can't say about a product. If a product is obviously uncompetitive (or junk!), I'll scrap the video and send the product back (which is why you won't see many outright negative reviews here). I hope you find the reviews useful!

#shtf #diy #diyproject #diyprojects #rvlife #rvliving #emergency #prepping Once you understand the basics, it's easy to build your own 12V backup power system...or a small off-grid system for a remote cabin, workshop or shed. And while there are TONS of options for the various components, here are the ones I've had a good firsthand experience with that I used in the video: 2000 Inverter: https://amzn.to/3SpGP2W 30A Solar Charge Controller: https://amzn.to/3Uw1GnN (for a few bucks more, you can get the 40A version, which will give you access to more solar input capacity and faster battery charging) Batteries: https://amzn.to/3SLTcb5 400W Solar Panels: https://amzn.to/4bCLEPl 200W Solar Panels: https://amzn.to/4blTo87 Cables: https://amzn.to/3uvlQnc Breakers: https://amzn.to/49gxfGZ https://amzn.to/3I5YRCJ Fuses: https://amzn.to/3SI6PYH https://amzn.to/3I5YZ5b Bus Bars: https://amzn.to/49orDtx Battery Disconnect Switch: https://amzn.to/3wUPd3v What kinds of things can this setup run (and for how long)??
