Get the recipe for Laminated Challah: https://bakewith.us/ly4rz0g6 Watch Martin's video on Braided Challah: https://youtu.be/cMM2LJz4-v8 Classic challah is typically made without dairy so that it can be served at kosher meals that include meat. In this rich, flaky twist on tradition, however, the egg-rich, honey-sweetened dough is instead made like croissant dough: layered with butter via lamination! Its gorgeously striated braid has a butter-crisped crust and a feathery, pull-apart interior reminiscent of a delicious pastry. For those who’ve never laminated before, begin with this video: The super-thin butter block, an innovation from our host Martin Philip, is less prone to shattering. Oh, and special thanks to baker Zoë Kanan, whose laminated challah at Elbow Bread in New York City inspired this recipe!
