A Mi-8 helicopter of the Chernobyl aviation group struck the construction crane cable above Reactor 4 and crashed within seconds. The tragedy was captured on film — one of the few Chernobyl accidents ever recorded as it happened. This video reconstructs the events of that day: the mission, the flight path, and the crash itself. It tells the story of the crew who worked above the destroyed reactor, unaware of what would unfold in the next moment — and of one coincidental photograph, taken by Igor Kostin, that became the last image of the crew.
