After a jam-packed few years that saw her debut album If My Wife New I’d Be Dead make waves in 2022, followed by the Mercury Prize-shortlisted Crazymad for Me just a year later, Ciara — or CMAT as she’s professionally known — is back with Euro-Country, landing August 29 and featuring her latest single Running/Planning. As if a new album weren’t enough, she’s got a crammed summer ahead too. Performing alongside The Very Sexy CMAT Band, this Irish powerhouse is touring with Sam Fender, hitting the festival circuit (including Glasto — yes, Nick and Angela will be there), and gearing up for her biggest headline shows yet in Brixton and Dublin later this year. And what better way to fuel up for it all than with Angela’s Mexican feast: guacamole, salsa and corn chips to start, followed by a Pescado a la Veracruzana, a Karla Zazueta recipe for Waitrose, a one-pot wonder of a dish. It’s served with a chilled glass of Château de Berne Provence Rosé, one of CMAT’s many food passions. Over dinner, they dive into everything from the glory of butter to the surprising similarities between restaurant service and stadium shows — plus why New York became the backdrop for her latest album.
