Video Description
What happens if you take six ordinary people, dump them in the middle of Exmoor in the teeth of appalling weather and leave them to live off the land as best they can? Journalist John Percival joins a dress shop owner, a builder, an art teacher, an anthropology student and a trainee nurse as they attempt to survive two weeks in the wilderness. They have made a few minor concessions to modern life - they are all wearing modern clothes, and have brought with them a few modern conveniences - a bag of oats, a fleece, some wire, a billhook, an iron pot and a box of matches. How will they sustain themselves over a fortnight? What will they eat? Where will they take shelter? How will they do the dishes? Can modern man go back to nature? Clip taken from The World About Us, originally broadcast on BBC Two, 5 January, 1975. You have now entered the BBC Archive, a time machine that will transport you back to the golden age of TV to educate, entertain and enlighten you with classic clips from the BBC vaults.
