Video Description

In the late 1900s, while human development killed one out of four birds in North America, crows used the opportunity to thrive. They utilized a unique set of abilities to adapt to their changing environment, providing unseen inspiration for current and future generations facing enormous global challenges. In her talk, 17-year-old birdwatcher Katie shares the simple lessons crows can teach us about seeing, sharing, and addressing the issues in our community to take steps towards solving seemingly hopeless problems. Katie is a junior at Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory High School in San Francisco, where she leads the Advocacy in Action club and is a member of both Speech & Debate and Model UN. In her free time, she enjoys birdwatching and pursuing her interest in environmental justice. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
