Initially, I was filled with skepticism and cynicism about bringing Hugh Jackman back out of retirement to play Wolverine. However, against all odds, I ended up really enjoying the film. Yes, Deadpool 3 overindulges in cameos and nostalgia, but that's also where its charm lies. The film cleverly uses characters like Wesley Snipes' Blade, Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Channing Tatum's Gambit, and Dafne Keen's X-23 in ways that contribute to its larger themes. The story explores the concept of a corporate takeover trying to erase the legacy of what's come before, highlighting the value of nostalgia. Moreover, Deadpool & Wolverine delves into why the classic Wolverine costume is significant to Logan's character and by extension us as fans of the character. It gives a costume meaning in a way I was shockingly moved by. It's not a cinematic masterpiece by any means, but with my expectations set at rock bottom, I found myself having a fun and enjoyable time.
