Orchestration centralizes decision logic, while choreography distributes it, making systems loosely coupled and extensible. Orchestration is ideal for synchronous communication like distributed transactions, OTP delivery, and recommendation systems, ensuring all services are done before proceeding. Choreography, event-driven, is favored for modern systems for its decoupling and extensibility, though observability complexities should be noted.
