Video Description

This is the first Chevy Volt I've played with, which seems crazy - the car came out in 2011, and you'd think I'd have run in to a few by now. We did have a couple of Cadillac ELRs, which are essentially the same thing, but no Volts crossed our path until this one. Being a GM product, and with me being biased toward GM products, the Volt is an electric car (of sorts) I 'm willing to give a chance to. I've never been fond of Teslas, think Nissan Leafs (Leaves?) are silly, and would rathe chew razor blades than drive a Prius. But the Volt had a shot. I'm pleased to say I didn't hate it. I don't really love it either, but the point of this review was to see if it made a good used car, particularly for people on a budget. Electric cars generally don't, particularly all-electric cars, because the charging grid really isn't what it needs to be in order to take long trips. It's obviously much better today than 12 years a go, but still not good enough - that's why I can accept the Volt - once the battery goes dead, the gas motor will keep you going in a reasonable manner for as long as you want it to - even across country. A Volt can be a person's only car, where a Leaf or other all-electric car really can't, unless you want to plan every long trip around available charging locations. Short story long - yes, the Volt seems to be a pretty good used car, even for people on a budget who depend on their car to make a living. They've held up well, perform as advertised, and have enough utility to get the job done. Full review and test drive by Bill. Vehicle available at Autohaus of Naples - www.AutohausNaples.com.
