Donald Trump has used his major speech to the United Nations General Assembly to launch a ferocious attack on the institution, ridicule the global transition to cleaner energy and expose climate change as the “greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world.” Speaking on Tuesday morning local time, Mr Trump accused the UN of impotence in failing to end wars while at the same time undermining national sovereignty by funding uncontrolled migration. “Your countries are going to hell,” he told global leaders. The US President described green energy and uncontrolled migration as a “double-tailed dragon” that had ravaged Europe and made clear America would not go down the same path.
