Dry Pack mortar or Deck Mud, as it is called in California, is an important step in the construction of a tile shower pan. For professionals it looks easy, but only because they have been doing it for so long. Often times beginners or DIY's struggle with low spots, crumbling, or uneven slope. That is why I have created this video that shows how to do it. By using these simple instructions there is almost no way to mess it up. This video shows how to mix dry pack mortar, and create a ledger to screed off of to ensure proper slope and a solid smooth surface to waterproof and install tile on top of.
