They say never meet your heroes, you'll only get disappointed. Well I did meet mine, decades ago. And disappointment was far from what I felt. Paano ba naman? Our first meeting? Mula sa isang sulok ng kwarto, lumapit siya sa akin, isang bagong graduate, na nangangatog at naiiyak sa harap ng kanyang idolo. What happened next was nothing short of a dream. She gave me the tightest of hugs. And from then to now, she's still as kind and thoughtful and sweet and generous with her time. Definitely not something you'd expect from the biggest star of her generation and the many more that came after. After all, she has every right to rest on her laurels - with the numerous acting awards and box-office hits. Kahit ano pa mang karakter ang gampanan - hindi siya kailanman nilamon ng kalakalan.
