We left our city lives behind and moved to the top of a mountain in Spain, to live off-grid. We’ve spent 2 years alone, renovating an old stone house and restoring the abandoned land. Ever since moving to the top of this mountain, our toilet experience has been primitive and, at times, traumatic. We spent the first year on our homestead going to the toilet in the bushes, with a shovel and a knife, fighting for our place amongst the grunting wild boar. The second year on our homestead, Emilia made some improvements. A make shift compost toilet built from pallets, scrap wood and a thoroughly cleaned out bucket of paint. However, winter is coming and Robbie has had enough bucket emptying to last him a life time. Emilia says that as we will be using a compost toilet for the rest of our lives, (she loves compost and the environment) we must build a compost toilet that will last FOREVER! Two years of thought has gone into this design, and probably 1,000 YouTube videos…. We are so excited to see the result, and never have to empty a bucket of poo again.
