Dandadan was one of the most beloved anime of 2024, and I had a blast watching it. It stood out from other supernatural anime I enjoyed that year with its unique premise, fast-paced action, and creative storytelling. However, as much as I loved the series, I couldn't overlook the inappropriate and unsettling scenes that appeared throughout the show. What frustrated me even more was how often these moments were brushed over or dismissed online. So, in this video, I wanted to break them down and explain why they didn’t sit right with me. While I don’t dive deep into Dandadan’s full plot, I touch on what I liked and disliked—particularly the way the anime incorporates unnecessary sexualization of underage characters, forced fan service, and scenes that feel exploitative rather than meaningful. These elements took away from what could have been a truly great series. To contrast this, I discuss Mouthwashing, an indie psychological horror game that left a lasting impact on me. Unlike Dandadan, this game thoughtfully explores dark themes in a way that enhances its story rather than cheapening it for shock value. Anya’s storyline, in particular, serves as the emotional and moral core of the game, demonstrating how difficult topics can be handled with depth and purpose.
