Exploring Epson America's Headquarters and Their Latest Home and Commercial Projector Models

ProjectorCentral Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Glowacki recently toured the headquarters for Epson America in Los Alamitos, CA, where he explored the company's gallery of historical and milestone products and interviewed product managers on both the home entertainment and commercial sides of Epson's projector business. Epson America moved from its former Long Beach, CA, facility into their new Los Alamitos building in 2020. Once inside, the building’s lobby features an always-evolving display from Refik Anadol, a Turkish-born digital artist based in LA, who was the first to use AI in public artwork. The dynamic, two-sided displays features 4 Epson Pro L20002UNL WUXGA laser projectors with ultra short-throw lenses projected on a DaLite Parallax custom screen. Other artifacts in Epson’s headquarters gallery include a sculpture featuring crystals manufactured by the company. Epson has a long history in the crystal device market, starting with their first quartz wristwatch in 1969. They have a strong focus on in-house production, from raw crystal procurement to integration with ICs and oscillators. During the day, Glowacki checked out Epson America’s showcase theater, which features a Stewart 180-inch Phantom Halo Plus screen and the QL-7000 at 10,000 lumens. That’s where Melvin Diaz, senior product manager Home Entertainment, walked him through how the Q-Series came into being after conducting a dealer survey and taking a field trip to key dealer partners in the affluent Texas market. Next up Glowacki chatted with technical account manager Rob Brennan who presented A/B comparisons between Epson Home Entertainment projectors and between Epson and certain respected competitors in the category. Last but not least Glowacki was given a detailed presentation on Epson’s commercial projectors, including some that are specifically designed for the K-12 market. Chris Teguh, product manager, large venue commercial projectors, offered insights into the company’s new Powerlite L projectors.
