About

I'm told I overthink things. I don't think that's so bad. There's a lot of topics I cover but a core of it would be history and games, and games about history. "Media analysis" in all the vague ways that means anything.

Video Description

Here's a video on how TaleWorlds went about designing elements of their world, from the history, to the landmass, to cultures, and how they all (in some cases quite obviously) borrow from the real world. It's also an exploration of what one can learn about worldbuilding from looking at an example like Bannerlord, or really the whole Mount and Blade series. _____________________________ My Links: https://twitter.com/KRosencreutz https://www.patreon.com/Rosencreutz Rome video I mentioned: https://youtu.be/0rQPck017II _____________________________ Links to sources mentioned (diaries, etc): Dev diaries Aserai https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/41 Battania https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/30 Calradia/Empire https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/45 https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/46 Khuzait https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/33 Sturgia https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/39 Vlandia https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/37 On cataphracts and Byzantine warfare: https://pure.royalholloway.ac.uk/ws/portalfiles/portal/28403841/2017chatzelisgphd.pdf _________________________ 00:00 Intro 02:28 Constructing a History 06:06 Constructing a world 10:36 Constructing Cultures 15:02 Battania 18:00 Sturgia 22:33 Calradia 26:19 Conclusion 29:10 Outro
