About

I teach people how to get started with bookbinding and advance their technical skills. Bookbinding is best taught in person, but everyone doesn’t have that opportunity. My videos are meant to supplement in person training. But if this isn’t an option, I hope they are good enough that they will help you develop skills on your own. The binding of the codex form of the book has been developed over the last two millennia. There have been many different kinds of binding structures developed in this time. My approach is based on traditional techniques. But this does not make my approach inflexible or limiting of creativity. It provides the foundation for making books that are structurally sound, extremely practical, and can last hundreds of years.

Video Description

The standard cased book has tipped on folio endpapers. A great upgrade is to use sewn-on endpapers, and this video demonstrates a modern take on the common made endpaper; the flexible made endpaper.
