Thanks: PELETON https://peleton.ru/ https://www.instagram.com/peleton_msk MSRP - Price $34.675–$48.960 HIGHS Proven turbo-four and strong turbo-six engine choices, contemporary styling, smooth, quiet ride. LOWS Dynamically ambivalent, many controls embedded in infotainment screen, no single- or extended-cab models. VERDICT With a smooth ride, handsome looks, muscular engines, and competitive payload and towing numbers, the mid-size Ranger is highly capable and thoroughly competitive. Redesigned for the 2024 model year, the Ford Ranger pickup rolls into 2025 with only minor changes. The mid-size pickup continues to be offered only as a crew cab with a five-foot bed, but two engines are available: the standard 270-horsepower turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder and a 315-horsepower twin-turbo V-6. Both pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission with either rear- or four-wheel drive. (The high-performance Ranger Raptor variant is on tap for buyers looking for some genuine factory-built off-road capability, but we review that model separately.) The Ranger’s exterior styling hews closely to that of the full-size F-150's, and the interior can be as spartan or luxurious as you desire, with the top-level Lariat bringing plenty of leather, tech, and entertainment features for the upcharge. While the current Ranger is arguably the best it’s ever been, its chief rivals—including the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and Toyota Tacoma—have all seen similar updates recently, and buyers currently in the market will need to do their homework. As one of our favorites in its segment, the Ford Ranger has earned a spot on our Editors’ Choice list for 2025. What's New for 2025? The Ranger sees minor changes for 2025. Cactus Gray, Iconic Silver, and Hot Pepper Red paint colors are exiled to make room for the new Ruby Red Metallic, Desert Sand, and Marsh Gray hues. A Black Appearance package also becomes available. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2025 Ford Ranger starts at $34.675 and goes up to $45.475 depending on the trim and options. XL: $34,675 RecommendedXLT: $37,205 Lariat: $45,475 Although the Lariat is undeniably plush, particularly for a mid-size pickup, its price pushes it close to the full-size pickup truck class. We'd go with the mid-range XLT, which offers a reasonable list of features for less. It includes desirable equipment such as LED exterior lighting, 17-inch aluminum wheels, power-folding side-view mirrors, in-dash navigation, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a power outlet inside the truck bed. It also comes with Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of driver-assistance features, which includes blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, and lane-keeping assist. We'd also consider the Technology package, which adds adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system, and front parking sensors. Engine, Transmission, and Performance Entry-level Rangers come with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that makes 270 horsepower which, in our experience, provides ample power to hustle the mid-size truck around. A twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 comes on higher trims and makes 315 horsepower. Both are bolted to a 10-speed automatic transmission and can be mated with rear- or four-wheel drive. During our test drive of the 2024 Ranger, we noticed it has a more stable on-road demeanor than the previous-generation truck and its ride seems more comfortable, but we criticized the steering for its vague feel. We particularly like the optional V-6 engine, as it provides strong acceleration and is worth the upcharge. 0–60-MPH Times In our testing, a Lariat model with the four-cylinder got to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds. The Ranger with its new twin-turbo V-6 was even quicker, getting to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. For maximum performance and off-road fun, consider the wild Ranger Raptor, which we review separately.
