Episode 124 of the Afterburn podcast with host John 'Rain' Waters and guest Lt. General Dan ‘Razin Caine, who was confirmed to serve as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. This interview was conducted on 30 November 2024 as General Caine was set to retire from service. Appointed on April 11, 2025, General Caine is now the nation’s highest-ranking military officer and serves as the principal military advisor to the President, Secretary of Defense, and National Security Council. Before becoming Chairman, he was the Associate Director for Military Affairs at the CIA. Over the course of his career, Caine has held a wide range of operational and strategic roles—serving as an F-16 fighter pilot, weapons officer, White House staff member, and special operations officer. He was commissioned in 1990 through ROTC at the Virginia Military Institute and later earned a Master’s in Air Warfare from American Military University. His professional education includes executive national security programs at Harvard Kennedy School and Syracuse University’s Maxwell School. A command pilot with more than 2,800 hours in the F-16, including 150+ combat hours, General Caine also spent time in the National Guard from 2009–2016—while simultaneously working as a serial entrepreneur and investor.
