More communities across the Prairies were told on Saturday to evacuate immediately due to the aggressive start to the wildfire season in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. The latest numbers show more than 620,000 hectares have been scorched — an area bigger than Prince Edward Island — at just the beginning of the season. Hersh Singh reports from Manitoba, where residents in northern regions are being rushed out. And just as Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe declared a provincewide state of emergency, Gates Guarin reports on the dire need of aid as provincial resources are stretched thin. Canada's steel and aluminum producers are reacting to another recent tariff threat from U.S. President Donald Trump. The Republican leader is promising to double import fees on foreign supply, which could reach 50 per cent as soon as Wednesday. Mackenzie Gray reports on the fallout here at home.
