For this one we’re hopping in the DeLorean and setting the time circuits to 1985, the year that Back to the Future landed on the big screen. And I gotta tell ya, 1985 was stacked with Bottled Lightning classics. The strictest definition for a one hit wonder in America is a music act that has scored just one Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. But for our purposes we’re loosening the reigns a little. Because yes, there are literal one-hit wonders that did score only one Top 40 hit. But there are also bands that got one massive hit and another Top 40 entry that almost no one remembers. And you’ll find them both on the countdown because they're all Bottled Lighting bands. Let’s do it. So we’re starting things with a band and song that would I bet most people don’t remember. Because most people think this song was a lesser hit by Journey! In at #10, it’s Giuffria with Call to the Heart. For almost a decade Gregg Giuffria manned the keyboards for the bold and stylish hard-rock glam-boys Angel. So back in 1975, Angel emerged out of Washington, D.C., with a look that turned heads and dropped jaws. While Kiss was painting their faces and breathing fire, Angel went the opposite direction—draped in white satin outfits that made them look like rock and roll angels descended from heaven. It was a little tacky, but it worked. Their elaborate stage shows were all theater, mixing heavy rock with over-the-top drama. At the heart of it all was keyboardist Gregg Giuffria, whose instrumental prowess helped define Angel's signature sound throughout their original run. The band caught a major break when Kiss’s Gene Simmons discovered them, helping secure a deal with Casablanca Records.
