Today I’m showing you 3 easy homemade heavy cream alternatives you can make with ingredients you probably already have. No special tools, no weird stabilizers — and YES, one of these turned out even thicker than store-bought. If heavy cream is too pricey, always sold out, or you just want a reliable swap for soups, sauces, baking, and coffee… this video is your new kitchen essential. Method #1 — (Whole Milk + Butter) Ingredients: • 1 cup whole milk • ¼ cup melted butter (salted or unsalted) Directions: Melt the butter and let it cool slightly so it’s warm, not hot. In a bowl or jar, whisk the whole milk while slowly drizzling in the melted butter.Whisk until fully emulsified and smooth. Use immediately, or chill for 10–15 minutes to let it thicken slightly. Perfect for: soups, sauces, skillet meals, mashed potatoes. Method #2 — Half-and-Half + Butter (Easy Everyday Cream) Ingredients: • 1 cup half-and-half • 2 tablespoons melted butter Directions: Melt the butter and let it cool just until warm. Pour the half-and-half into a bowl or mason jar. Slowly whisk in the melted butter until the mixture comes together and turns creamy. Use right away or chill for extra thickness. Perfect for: baking, chowders, casseroles, desserts. Method #3 — Ultra-Thick Version (Powdered Milk + Water + Oil) Ingredients (fills 1 pint jar): • 1 cup dry milk powder • 1 cup cold water • 3 tablespoons neutral oil (like avocado — not extra virgin) Directions: Add the powdered milk and cold water to a blender. Blend on high for 20–30 seconds to fully hydrate the milk powder. While blending, slowly drizzle in the oil (all 3 tablespoons). Blend another 5–10 seconds until completely smooth.
