And our Milky Way, that sprawling cosmic island we call home, contains somewhere between two hundred billion and four hundred billion stars. Let me say that again slowly. Our galaxy alone holds up to four hundred billion stars. Think about that for a moment. Four hundred billion individual suns, each potentially warming their own collection of planets, each burning with the fury of nuclear fusion, each representing possibilities we can barely begin to imagine.
