Blessed are the peacemakers. So says President Donald Trump. His 20-point Gaza peace plan has delivered a breakthrough. Phase one has come into force with the release of the hostages. Then came the words hostage families have been waiting for. President Trump delivered the news of securing the release of Israeli captives during a brief phone call with them last week. True to his word - President Trump has succeeded where other world leaders have failed. He's pushed through a deal that will see all the hostages released, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a partial Israeli military withdrawal. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is selling it as a diplomatic success and a national victory - writing: "From the beginning, I made it clear: we will not rest until all our hostages return and all our goals are achieved." But it's the last part of that sentence that has some regional analysts concerned. Far-right members of his cabinet have already said they don't support phase one of the deal - let alone moving forward with the broader agreement. We’ve been here before. Once in November 2023 and again in January this year. Both times, the path to peace never progressed beyond the first phase. So - on this episode we'll ask: Is the war really over? Or is this just the start of yet another pause? Can Hamas be convinced to disarm - in order to move to phase two? And how much credit does President Trump deserve?
