Seven weeks ago, the experienced yachtsman took his 11-year-old daughter Ruby on what was supposed to be an unforgettable adventure, a 1200km sailing trip exploring the wild and remote coast of Western Australia. It’s true that they’ll never forget it, but not for the right reasons. Father and daughter nearly died after a rogue wave capsized their yacht and they were hurled into the ocean. How they survived, badly injured and kilometres from shore, is an incredible story of strength and plain good luck. As Liam Bartlett reports, it’s also an important reminder to never underestimate the power of the sea.
