How To Mount and Balance Tires Without A Tire Machine. DIY Tire Change In this video I'm going to show you how to mount and balance tires without a tire machine. This procedure works great for tires with taller sidewalls. Tires with extremely low profile sidewalls or extremely stiff sidewalls will be a struggle to mount using this procedure. What I'm showing in this video is how tires were mounted and balanced back in the 1940s and 1950s. The tools that you need to do this are very basic, 2 tire spoons, a bubble balancer, your vehicle's emergency jack, and an air compressor with a tank to inflate the tire after you're done. Using your vehicle's emergincy jack you can break the beads on the old tires. After the beads are broken, use the two tire spoons to pry the tire off of the rim. Once the tire is off, clean the bead area on the rim so you don't have any leaks in the future. Next use the two spoons to install your new tire onto the rim. Once the tire is mounted you can balance the wheel and tire assembly with a bubble balancer.
