🔐 Unraid Zero to Hero – Episode 4 In this episode, we install and configure Nginx Proxy Manager on our Unraid YouTube server and walk through how to safely expose a self-hosted app (Overseerr) to the internet using DNS, SSL and port forwarding. We’ll cover: • Installing the new jc21 Nginx Proxy Manager template on Unraid • Cleaning up old appdata so you don’t get weird database conflicts • Setting custom container names, ports and a Docker network • Setting up DNS in Cloudflare (A records, CNAMEs, www redirect) • Configuring port forwarding on your router (80/443 → 1880/1443) • Creating a Proxy Host for Overseerr in Nginx Proxy Manager • Generating a free Let’s Encrypt certificate • Using Cloudflare Origin Certificates as a long-term SSL option • Locking in Full (strict) SSL from Cloudflare to your origin • Security tips and when NOT to expose services to the web ⚠️ Important security note: Port forwarding always carries risk. In this video we do it deliberately and carefully so you understand what’s happening under the hood.
