At the time, I was still doing my master's and I needed some side income. My friend who is a senior data scientist was doing freelance projects on Upwork so I asked him to mentor me. He gave me some cool advice that helped me get my first clients and more. Remember that getting freelance work doesn't only come from freelance platforms (Upwork, fiver, freelancer, Toptal...) it can also come from your personal network, social media, and especially LinkedIn. Data science and computer science in general are super in demand in the tech industry. For you to stand out you need to do things differently from others. Doing a bunch of data science projects won't be enough to land the data science job you always dreamed of. There's a lot of technical but also the non-technical that matters in data science.
