In this video, I discuss contents of those paragraphs with examples. This is an example of a first paragraph from one of my SOP's: "During a class as a freshman, my lecturer made a remarkable comment and I quote “it is more important and effective to work towards the prevention of illness than to work actively in trying to cure that illness”. This statement struck me and made such an impact that I decided to join groups (both in college and at home) concerned with raising funds for the less privileged and creating public awareness on prevention of rampant illnesses like HIV/AIDS and malaria. One notable group I belong to is the “All for Christ Youth Initiative” a non-governmental organization (NGO) comprising youths who go out to several rural places to educate the villagers on the importance of washing their hands with soap after using the toilet. As a member of this group, I have been privileged to partake in HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns, talking to young girls like myself on the importance of having a sound education, visitation of orphanages and remand homes. All these have been great experiences for me because I have seen people suffer or die from illnesses that could have been prevented. My goal to become a public health specialist is embedded in the fact that I want to be part of a team that will aim to avert these ills."
