Did you know the Maya people are still very much alive and thriving in Guatemala today? In this video, I dive into the vibrant world of modern Mayan culture — their daily life, enduring traditions, and powerful spiritual practices around Lake Atitlán. We visit different Maya communities, meet shamans, explore sacred sites, and look at how their identity survived and evolved long after the Spanish conquest. After interviewing the Guatemalan Ambassador to Korea, I decided to check out Korea Town in Guatemala City… and that opened the door to something bigger. One thing led to another, and I found myself exploring the Mayan world. Honestly, I never expected the Maya to be this present, this active, and this alive today, so I went to see it all with my own eyes.
