The keynote address for the 21st IISS Shangri-La Dialogue will be delivered by Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Philippines. Against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainties, the Philippines is presented with a range of challenges from climate change to heightened regional tensions. Since taking office in June 2022, President Marcos has pursued an agenda of expanded strategic partnerships in the Asia-Pacific and beyond including through new formations like the US-Japan-Philippines trilateral. In his remarks, President Marcos will articulate his vision for a stronger and more prosperous Asia-Pacific.
