Small Bread Board 9..12 V 20W Solar Panel In this video we are going to discuss with a project includes a module which can be measure current power and voltages for DC supplies and to send the values to IOT platform like thinkspeak.com nowadays we are using a lot of solar panels and renewable energies for power applications and design control circuits too, so here we need to monitor the voltage power, and current to protect the battery or circuitry, it is essential to monitor and record the parameters like voltage current and power consumptions for AC circuit we have already published in our you tube channel the video with a module of pzem004T which can measure all the parameters for AC circuits like voltage current frequency power and power factor related video link of IOT based AC energy meter using pzem004T youtube link is given in the description for your reference for DC power supply I found a low cost module which can measure all these parameters is known as I N A 219 which is very much useful for a small projects with the DC supply sources up to 26V and 3.2A max so I thought that I would share some information about this module and discuss the futures and it's applications. INA 219 looks like a simple with minimum no of I/O pins, there are six pins on one side to connect Vcc and ground and two pin for I2C connection SDA SCL two on other side for connecting load in series with DC source VCC: This pin is used to supply the operating voltage to the INA219 module. It can handle an input voltage of 3.3V to 5.5V. GND: This is the Ground pin. SCL: This pin is used for the clock line of the I2C interface. SDA: This pin is used for the data line of the I2C interface. Vin-: This pin connects to the negative terminal of the voltage supply that you want to measure. This pin is also where the shunt resistor is placed and is used for current sensing. Vin+: This pin connects to the positive terminal of the voltage supply that you want to measure. Feature and specification Operational Voltage : The INA219 operates between 3 to 5.5 volts, increasing its compatibility with various systems running at either 3.3V or 5V logic level. Bus Voltage Range (0 – 26 Volts): The INA219 can monitor power supplies within 0 to 26 volts range Current Sensing Range (±3.2A with ±0.8mA resolution): The INA219 can monitor a current range of ±3.2A with a precise resolution of ±0.8mA. 0.1 ohm 1% 2W Current Sense Resistor: The module uses a 0.1-ohm shunt resistor with a 1% tolerance and 2W power rating for current sensing. The low resistance value minimizes power loss, while the 1% tolerance ensures measurement accuracy. The 2W power rating indicates its robustness, supporting current measurements up to ±3.2A. Code Discription The first part of the programme is to include the Wire and Adafruit INA219 library. The Wire library enables the microcontroller to use the I2C communication The Adafruit INA219 library makes the handling of the sensor itself easier because we only need to use one function for each measurement. After the two libraries are included, the Adafruit INA219 object is created with the name ina219. In the setup function we open the lcd communication because I want to display the measurements lcd display of 20x4. In the second part of the setup function the INA219 object is initialized with the begin function and if the object could not be initialized, we know that something with the chip is wrong. Therefore we print this error message to the serial output. We extract the values from ina219 device using busvoltage = ina219.getBusVoltage_V(); current_mA = ina219.getCurrent_mA(); power_mW = ina219.getPower_mW(); And to display in LCD In the last part of the setup function a table is created with all measurements we want to print and display in LCD and serial monitor.
