Jan’s passion for environmental issues ignited at a young age, when he founded an environmental group at the age of eight, marking the beginning of his commitment to sustainability. Jan later went on to pursue advanced studies in environmental science, economics, and policy, earning a doctorate from Oxford University. His studies provided him with a strong foundation for his future career, which to date has included serving on the World Economic Forum’s Advisory Group on Clean Power, Grids, and Electrification, collaborating with global experts to advance the transition to clean energy systems. He has also been involved with institutions including Oxford University, Cambridge University, and the University of Sussex. With this, he has published extensively, and his publications have been widely cited and have influenced policy. He now serves as the Vice President and European Programme Director at the Regulatory Assistance Project, a global clean energy think tank. Here he leads efforts to shape energy policies globally. He has also formerly served as a Special Advisor to the UK House of Common’s Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy Committee meaning he has frequently provided expert testimony to both the UK Parliament and the European Parliament. As a highly sought-after keynote speaker, Jan has presented at international and national conferences including the United Nations and the World Economic Forum and has testified as an expert witness to the House of Commons and European Parliament on numerous occasions. In recognition of his work, Jan has been named the most-read thought leader on the energy transition, as well as one of the top 100 players in the global climate space.
