As Daria’s best friend, Jane was a constant presence throughout the show’s five-season run, often joining our cynical heroine on her many misanthropic misadventures. But make no mistake… Jane is so much more than just Daria’s sidekick – and it’s easy to see WHY she’s resonated with so many. Despite being unpopular at school, Jane is talented, witty, and usually pretty self-assured. She’s a character anyone who felt like a misfit growing up can aspire to. But while Jane is undeniably COOL, there’s also an unmistakable sadness beneath it all. This largely stems from the way she was raised, which – ironically – played a HUGE role in shaping the persona we all know and love.
