2026 Kia EV4: Love It or Hate It?

Let’s check out the 2026 Kia EV4: Kia’s controversially styled new electric vehicle! And thanks to @MagnaInternationalTV for sponsoring this video! Kia recently invited us to Detroit to tour the new Kia K4 hatchback variant and the new Kia EV4. The EV4 is Kia’s new EV, and it’s been all over the news for its styling. We don’t get to test drive or review the EV4 today (and we don’t know the price yet), but we do get a quick tour of the car. The Kia EV4 has no deep history, because this 2026 model is the first iteration of the car. Kia brought a concept EV4 to the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2023, and while automakers usually significantly water down the styling of concept cars to create the road-ready versions, the production EV4 looked a whole lot like that concept. Concepts are wild, and so is the EV4. This is something we’ve seen a lot with Hyundai Motor Group, which is Kia’s parent company, in its modern era. About 15 years ago, the Hyundai Sonata debuted with a wild new front end, and in May 2010, it made the cover of MotorTrend. Since then, we’ve gotten Elantra and Ioniq 6 and Kona models (just to name a few) with funky styling.  Not to mention Hyundai’s wacky — in a good way — concept cars, like the N Vision 74 or the Pony. Hyundai Motor Group goes big with styling, and it’s usually rewarded.  The Kia EV4 is expected in America in early 2026, and it’ll come standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The plan is for there to be a front-wheel-drive, single-motor configuration that makes 201 horsepower and 209 pound-feet of torque.While there have been reports about an all-wheel-drive model, Kia told me it’s only front-wheel drive for now. If customers want AWD, Kia said the platform could handle it. There are two battery sizes on the Kia EV4: 58.3 and 81.4 kWh. Automaker-provided range estimations are from 235 miles to 330 miles, which isn’t the longest range in the world, but it’s good enough to get you places.  Kia also says the EV4 has the charging capability of 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes on a DC fast charger, and this car has an NACS port — basically, the Tesla port. People love having NACS charging because of its availability and ease.  I can’t wait to drive the EV4 and do all of our normal tests for cars — highway driving, around-town driving, driver-assist features, and more.
