About

G'day everyone. Here on the Artisan Makes channel I create home machine shop videos. With a small workshop and modest equipment, I will show that almost anything can be made with an import lathe, and a small milling machine. I hope you learn something new and enjoy your time here. Video Description

G'day everyone, One day build project this week. Run out is something that I occasionally have to deal with. I try to make most of my parts as low tolerance as possible and that includes having enough room to work with the standard run out of my 3 jaw chuck. However if I am chucking long parts, or parts with soft jaws, axial run out can present itself as a problem. Depending on the part it is usually a 1-2 minute fix, although it can take much longer if I have to work with parts in the 4 jaw chuck. I remember watching Chris from Clickspring's bump roller tool years back and wanting to make one. (https://www.clickspringprojects.com/bump-lathe-centering-tool.html) So I made one. I just went a bit overboard with the design of mine. I love the design but it is a tad unnecessary. Still I hope you enjoy the video.
