Video Description
Six members of Congress made a video that took the form of a public, service announcement, reminding our military members of their absolute obligation to disobey any unlawful military orders. In a supremely dangerous and unhinged series of posts, Donald Trump suggested that these members of Congress committed the crime of sedition and deserve to be put to death for their accurate and truthful assertions in the video. The reality is, the members of Congress who created the video, five of whom are military veterans themselves, we're completely accurate in asserting that military members are duty bound to disobey unlawful orders. The good news is, there's help available for military members who are put in the difficult and dangerous situation of having to decide if any orders they receive are lawful orders or unlawful orders. Retired Army JAG officer Franklin Rosenblatt is the president of the National Institute of Military Justice. NIMJ created The Orders Project, to provide military members real-time advice from subject matter experts who are attorneys, on whether a particular order a soldier might have to wrestle with is a lawful order or an unlawful order, which is the discussion of this interview with law professor and military law expert Frank Rosenblatt.
