Video Description

On the island of Madagascar, the roads are in a state of disrepair, battered by the frequent tropical cyclones that strike the region and the absence of regular upkeep. During the nearly six-month-long rainy season, the situation worsens, as the tracks become increasingly impassable. In such conditions, only tractors can take on these challenging paths. At the helm of his sturdy machine, Thierry is tasked with delivering four tons of food to a village isolated from the rest of the world. Located six hours from the capital, in the Hauts Plateaux, the village of Antanetibe is preparing for the grand Malagasy tradition known as “the turning of the dead.” Meanwhile, in the bustling capital, recyclers give a second life to discarded items. One of them, Marcelin, retrieves materials destined for the trash and ingeniously transforms them into practical objects, which he sells in local markets. Directors: David Jacques GEOFFRION; Daniel LAINE
